Climbs in the Dolomites by difficulty

top results displayed on map

The Italian Dolomites are World Heritage Sites for a reason. It is one of the most beautiful mountain areas in Europe and far beyond. This has to do with the origin of the mountain range, which rose from the sea a long time ago as "columnitized" coral. The mountain range is less old than the surrounding Alps. It is mainly due to the shape and structure of the mountain massifs that the Dolomites can be clearly distinguished from the Alps.

Both German and Italian are spoken in this area. Originally the northern Italian part belonged to the Austrian Tyrol. The tourist center of the Dolomites is located in Cortina d'Ampezzo. From there you can reach several ski resorts but also the major climbs such as the Passo Giau. The most famous ciclo of the region is the Maratona dles Dolomites which takes place every year at the beginning of July. This is where the famous Sella round, around the Sella massif, is ridden.

Names like the Passso Sella, Pordoi, Falzarego sound like music to every righteous cyclist's ears. The Dolomites are a must to visit for every cyclist-climber-mountain fanatic. One small drawback: you are usually not alone here and the motorized traffic can sometimes be very annoying.
