Cycling in the Lombardy

Lombardy is a true cycling region and has many local cycling fanatics who love the climbs in the north (the Alps and Dolomites) and west (the Apennines). One of the most famous classics, the Tour of Lombardy takes place every year with arrival in Bergamo. Another famous classic starts in Milano, the capital of Lombardy. In addition, the cycling amateurs also have their Gran Fondo "Il Lombardia" with start and finish in Cantù. Two iconic climbs, the Ghisallo and the Muro di Sormano, will be climbed during this tour. From Milano you can already see the Alps in the distance. Against the Alps you will find the beautiful large lakes of Italy; Lago Maggiore, Lago di Como, Lago d'Iseo, and Lago di Garda. The mountains around these lakes are among the finest cycling regions and have a perfect cycling climate. Lombardy runs up to the Swiss border. The Stelvio National Park is also part of this region. You will also find famous cycling spots such as Bormio, Edolo and Livigno from where you can reach the biggest Italian climbs.
