This climb has some of the best scenery of any in the Alps. It''s best to start from Bonneval-sur-Arc on this side to avoid a lot of flat riding. The climb itself is difficult but gives you some chances to recover. Take everything you need (including a jacket).
Did it in 1961 having cycled across France, then down through Switzerland (did go up inside the Eiger as well. Then to Lugano, then down to Turin. Then over the Mont Cenis to Lansleburg . Reached the top at 1300 hrs. Then did the Little St Bernhard as we did not have any French money on us !!!!!!!!
