Stages Giro d'Italia 2018 - 5/4/2018
Christopher Froome can start rubbing his legs. With 8 arrivals uphill, the Giro 2018 promises to be a party for climbers.
After a three-day run in Israel, the Giro 2018 really starts of on hilly Sicily with a final stage to the Mount Etna. Next, we head to the peninsula where a first mountain stage awaits us on the 12th of May with an arrival on the Montevergine di Mercogliano. The next day we have a stage finish at Gran Sasso at 2135 m above sea level.
We continue towards the north crossing the Apennines and after a brief intermezzo over the Po-plain we arrive at the Alps. A tough ride awaits us with arrival on the dreaded Monte Zoncolan, for the first time since 2014 and for the sixth time included in the course. On Sunday, May 20, we cross the Dolomites with the Passo Tre Croci and Passo di Sant'Antonio on the menu.
After the rest day on Monday and a time trial on Tuesday, three heavy and decisive final stages follow. On Thursday it goes to Prato Nevoso. On Friday we climb to the roof of the Giro with the Colle delle Finestre, to arrive at Jafferau via Sestrière. On Saturday, the Col Tsecore, Col St. Pantaléon and Cervinia are on the program.
