Eisentalhöhe, Ebene Reichenau histoire envoyée le 8/24/2008
I did the exact same climb just a few days ago and its a nice one. Maybe too many bikers (on a motorcycle that is), but nice nevertheless. However, the math is off. Since you have two peaks there are more altimeters on the track - there is a descent of almost 500 meters between them. So, you actually make almost 1.400 altimeters, which puts the average just over 7% (I clocked 25,4 kilometers b.t.w.).

Gerlitzen - Alpenstrasse, Tschöran histoire envoyée le 8/24/2008
I did the Alpenstrasse and the Gipfelstrasse one after the other. The views from either side while climbing are spectacular, on the summit not so much though. Bear in mind that the percentages shown are averages - be prepared to conquer steep passages of over 15%. Either climb is do-able, but they are not easy. As it was a hot day, the flies were really annoying.

Grossglockner - Edelweissspitze, Fusch histoire envoyée le 7/7/2009
As is often the case in these parts of Austria, the weather was not good on 29/6/2009. Icecold rain, dense clouds close to the top and thus no really spectacular view from either peak (Fuscher Törl or Edelweiss - from the Franz Josephs Höhe you could actually look down)... Still, while climbing you would have a view every now and then, certainly upwards and it is impressive. The percentage doesnt look that much (?), but large stretches actually hurt. It took me 1:20 from Ferleiten to the Fuscher Törl, which turned out to be not all that bad. I did not dare to do any descents because of the wet conditions and the poor visibility (close to zero at the Hochtor), so I only climbed the road and put the bike in the car for the descents (yes, the car was driven by someone else :-) and I had different sets of clothing at hand for the various conditions). It is not the Stelvio, but it still is a climb you should put on your (wish)list and Im certain that if you are lucky enough to get good weather, the views will be spectacular. I enjoyed this one very much, despite the weather!

Monte Zoncolan, Ovaro histoire envoyée le 7/27/2011
As it was 36 degrees and over while climbing, I confess I thought I wouldn''t make it, but I did (barely). ''Gate way to hell'' is correct under the circumstances! Once on the summit, you feel inconvincible though, as you have just finished one of the toughest climbs in Europe... A couple of days later, I climbed the Mortirolo and that was - or at least seemed - much easier.

Mortirolo, Mazzo histoire envoyée le 7/27/2011
A couple of days after the Zoncolan, I climbed the Mortirolo and it was - or at least seemed - much easier. Still, the middle part (around 5 - 6 k total) is tough and I felt lucky that it was warm, but not hot (like the hell on the Zoncolan). If you can''t get up this beast, don''t try the monster at Ovaro!

Torri di Fraele, Turri Piano (crossroad SS301) histoire envoyée le 9/18/2012
At the time I climbed this hidden gem (July 17, 2011), the profile was not yet on CBB. It is a beautiful climb, which is not widely known by cyclists.

However, when in the Bormio area, it is well worth the short trip (direction Valdidentro) to get to it. Once you''ve reached the summit, you can cycle on some kilometers more up to the lake(s) and the Ristoro Monte Scale.

y score (4) is mainly because of the spectacular views - the climb itself is not to difficult (or long), but it''s not easy either...

Colle della Fauniera, Demonte histoire envoyée le 6/25/2014
Possibly harder than the Stelvio this one. I do not recall such frequent shifts in percentages there. And taking drops into consideration, the overall elevation gain and thus average percentage is probably higher.

At any rate, the views are fantastic, breathtaking. Traffic can be a problem on the small roads. And I got stuck for half an hour waiting for cows to be unloaded from three BIG trucks, while the road was completely blocked.

Other than the Pantani monument (and the view) there''s nothing to be done/had at the summit.
