Description

Not many people know that there is a surfaced road to the top of this prominent peak just north of Dundee. Its a hard climb with a long straight section of more than 20% before leveling off and then finishing with a short brutal section. The 360 degree views over Dundee, the River Tay, Strathmore and the Grampian Mountains make it worthwhile.

This climb is in Dundee, Angus, Scotland, NOT TEXAS!!! I climbed it for the first time this weekend. It is relentless and the third quarter was agony. I managed the climb from the gate at halfway up three and a half times before my legs finally exploded. There is a fairly straight downhill which allows for speeds around 75KpH so that was fun and the views from the top are amazing

Climbed craigowl in the early 90s in the company of Nick Kopp.Must admit,I thought I was about to have a heart attack and die.Possibly smoked a cigarette while enjoying the fine view from the top.Still cycling in this area as I now live in Forfar.
