The Taaienberg ("tough mountain") in Etikhove, Maarkedal was climbed for the first time by the Ronde van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders) in 1974. It wil be climbed for the 30th time in 2006. The road is paved with cobblestones and you climb from 37 to 82 meters height for length of 475 m. The maximum gradient is 18%.
