Description

Climb to Wintergreen Ski Resort. This climb was featured in the Tour Dupont in the early 90's and climbed by both Lance Armstrong and Greg Lemond in competition. The Charlottesville Racing Club sponsors the UCI rated event 'Ascent on Wintergreen' each spring.

It''s probably the longest climb around, and as the profile shows, the first 5km of mild "false flat" just zap any momentum and energy you might have thought you had going into the climb. This profile is for turning into the Wintergreen ski resort, but you can also continue on the main road and arrive at the Blue Ridge Parkway (at Reed''s Gap). That climb is also listed on climbbybike.com. It''s ~2.5k of climbing from the ski resort entrance, and it bites ~12% average. Turn around and descend if you want a wicked fast ride and chance to hit 55+mph.
