I love this route, it''s gorgeous, challenging and a ton of fun if you have the lungs/legs for it, but it is NOT an 11% grade on average, nor is it the hardest climb in the Wasatch. Little Cottonwood Canyon is steeper and similar in length (9%, the Alpine Loop is closer to 7%, and the first seven miles from the American Fork side aren''t really that bad anyway), and Big Cottonwood Canyon is longer by about 6 miles.
But it''s still one of the best rides I''ve done anywhere.
