The climb from Castelnuovo to San Pellegrino has a short section of 20%, yes, 20%. I have climbed it many times. Us local brits (of which there are many) call it ''Jocks in the Box''. San Pell is on the ''Francigiana way'', a pilgrim route from Canterbury to Rome. They walked from Scotland to Rome and froze to death on the way back. They are buried in the church at San Pellegrino with a glass lid.
