So google maps decided to direct us up here on our (Myself and Family guy''s) Malin to Mizen head cycle. With almost 600km on the clock, it was gruelling. Locals recommended the cycle ''if you had a good bike''!! We walked parts that our road bikes simply wouldnt climb. Unbelievable at the top though, and the southerly descent was almost as much of a challenge!! Recommendations: 1, Mountain bike or road bike with front triple wheel or high cogged back cassette. 2, Have good brakes for the descent!!

A great climb - especially from sea level if approaching from the south. Should be done on a mountain bike because of the quality of the road being so poor - grass and gravel everywhere. There are more sheep than cars. Good fun descent.
