It was snowing and very cold in the rest of spain that time (jan10). I had nice weather. Near the top cold and cloudy. The second half I suffered (long+-30 km and nearly 2000m high) because I didnt touched my bike the last three months and I had only one bidon... Cancellara was there too.. .its a hard climb anyway. Good alternative for Lanzarote to prepare the season. I was staying in the city near the busstation(you can take it with your bike). Last year I did it from the other site (sea level). Always difficult to know where you are.

I did the climb january10 when the rest of EU, especially Spain, was suffering of snowstorm and cold. It take some time to reach the top - I starting halfway to suffer- because the last three months I didnt touch any bike and only have one bidon with me.Anyway the sun & wind there give you a lot of energy! Note : it can be cold and cloudy near the top. Two years ago I did from the other site. Starting from sea level its always something special. Good road. I used a triple. I saw even Cancellara with some others. Good place to start the season-better & harder than Lanzarote. I stay in the city in the parkhotel near the busstation where you can take the bus with your bike(free).
