Story by Stuart Gibson from Bridlington, United Kingdom, submitted on 26/01/2016
I climbed the Timmelsjoch on 26 July 1997. It took me five hours from Oetz to reach the summit. After hanging around the summit for a while I set off to descend to San Leonardo in Italy, when I saw a "no cycling" sign ( this ban was lifted in 1998 or 1999 ). Not wanting to go back the way I had just come, I ignored it and went down anyway. A third of the way down and a car driven by the Italian police, the Carabinieri, came round the bend and pulled me over. They didn''t send me back as by now it was thundery, they asked for a fine of 150,000 lire ( £75 )but I only had 10 Austrian Schilling, so they let me go! Despite this contretemps, it as a thrilling descent!

Story by Nicodin Gheorghe from Brasov, Romania, submitted on 13/12/2009
I climbed Passo Rombo as the final climb during 2009 edition of the Oetztaler RadMaraton. It came as the hardest climb that day, after climbing Kutai, Brenner and Passo Giovio (JaufenPass). The good thing was that the weather was exceptionally good, and even if I had not the best gearing, it was a great pleasure for me.
