This is a beautiful climb in the Sogne region (Sogn og Fjordane) in Norway. It follows the formerly (1967-2000) main road between the towns of Aurlandsvangen and Laerdalsoyri. During the climb, there are several magnificent viewing points, for example Stegastein which is situated 640 meters above the town of Aurlandsvangen. But in summer it can be busy and the road is narrow.

The Nalfarhogdi is situated in Norway. Starting from Fiordo di Aurland, the Nalfarhogdi ascent is 16.6 km long. Over this distance, you climb 1295 heightmeters. The average percentage thus is 7.8 %.

Stories, information and comments from Nalfarhogdi climbers
Story by Kristian M. Kristiansen from Rykkinn, Norway, submitted on 09/01/2008
This is a wonderful climb, very similar to Col du Tormalet in difficulty I belive. As many Norwegian climbs, it starts at sealevel, in the center of the small town of Aurland and winds its way through farmland with grassy fields and birchwoods. Most of the way you have stunning views of the fjord below and the mountains around. Just below the treeline there is a spectacular viewpoint where you look straight down on Aurland and the start of the climb. When you pass the treeline the landscape opens up and you see the last kilometers of long zig-zags in the distance. In May and early June the snowbanks at the top can be five meters or more!
