The road from Southend to the lighthouse is spectacular, the views are amazing and there are some pretty respectable climbs, eventually you will stop climbing and reach a closed gate marking the end of the road, beyond this gate lies the road to the lighthouse, as soon as you cross the gate the road plummets into a tight right hand hairpin and you see what lies ahead, a series of hairpins all the way to the bottom. Cycling back up was tough but short, if you get the back tyre wet you will spin as i found out, the only way to stop spinning was to sit on the saddle to keep the weight over the back, you dont need this when cycling up +20%. This was an enjoyable climb but some rate it as 2nd hardest in scotland, Im not so sure.
