Stories, information and comments from Mt. Hotham climbers
Story by Scott Bensley from Perth, Australia, submitted on 21/07/2014
I climbed Mt Hotham in thhe 3 Peaks Challenge March 9, 2014. The first half is winding lightly forested and reasonable gradient. It''s quite enjoyable but when you reach the alpine region, the trees disappear and you begin to get stunning views especially of the winding road behind you. There are some steep ramps in the last section that get you out of the saddle and caused me a few cramps! It was well worth it though as we have few HC climbs in Oz like this one.
