A slight correction to the Geography. Mt Baw Baw is in Victoria and not NSW. A great circuit is the 100Km ride from Noojee and back, through some lovely temperate rainforest with enormous tree ferns and huge mountain ash eucalypts. The last bit of the climb, from the turnoff to the top is only 6km but as others have said it is unrelenting. A few of the turns get to 20%, so try zigzagging across the whole of the road ( looking out for oncoming traffic) for variety. During summer weekdays it is very quiet. Great cafe at the top which is a mountain bike destination.

My girlfriend Marlena and I climbed this yesterday. Weather was fine (28 degrees at the bottom but no doubt cooler on top) Climb is relentless, with very few flat sections. A number of the steep bits saw my front wheel lifting off the road. Speed was as slow as 7kmh on a 34 x 28 gear ration (road bike) I consider myself pretty fit and this is by far the hardest climb I have ridden here in Victoria. Luckily we had a dry day for the descent. Wasnt a lucky this time last year and that was TERRIFYING! A must try for anyone with an adventurous spirit. Mark
