Les Deux Alpes was only included in the Tour in recent history. The climb is around the corner of the even more famous Alpe d'Huez and can thus also from Bourg d'Oisans attacked. Remember, just like Alpe d'Huez, Les Deux Alpes is a ski resort, but here you have to take the same route back down. The climb begins at Les Clapiers which are accessed from the N91 (road cycling). It’s immediately rather steep. After the first tunnel, you get a view of the Gorges de l'Infernet. After five kilometer, it suddenly descends to Le Freney-d'Oisans. From then on, it goes up again steadily but not too hard to the Lac du Chambon from where you can also reach the Alpe d'Huez. Here begins the actual climb described here and from here it is getting much more difficult except for a flat piece at Mont-de-Lans. The last five kilometers have an average of around 8%.
