Fun climb, relentless gradient and not the best surface but more of a workout as a result. The fairly steep start from the turning flattens out past the restaurant, making it hard to get into earlier on. But then it becomes easier to get a rythym even on the 11-13% ramps amongst the steadier 8-9% sections. I found I had too much left at the top but that''s the risk when you ride a climb for the first time as a tourist! I rode 39/25 and spent most of the climb between 19-23, using the 25 on the steepest parts to keep the cadence up.
My personal climb rating:

Slightly higher average gradient than Alpe dHuez, although a mile and a half shorter. It is punishing along the entire route save a section about 5.5 miles (9 kms) uphill the hill where it plateaus to about 5% grade. Other than that, the figures listed on the site are fairly accurate. It averages just over 8% and there are sections approaching the turns that go 10+% for short bursts. This hill hurt me, but the view from the top is incredible.
SAFETY WARNING: Dont try this climb pushing a 42x23 unless youre a pro....Im not. Nuff said. Id recommend a compact or a 25 or 27 rear cog.
