This climb is known for being the first of 4 big climbs in the famous 238 km Otztaler Radmarathon (a bike marathon). The first km leaving Oetz is steep and (in summer) hot, but soon after the road is less steep. After the first village the climb stays around 8 to 9 percent all the way to Ochsengarten, with some nice hairpins (look out for the cows though - küh means cow and they don't use the name without reason). In Ochsengarten it's easy cycling. At km 12 though the road tries to kill you for just under a km, a real wall (muur in dutch and flemisch). The landscape opens up and as you cycle past the Langentall lake, you are almost there. One last steep bit in Kuhtai and you reach the top. Tip: take the service road to the South to the Finstertall lake (3 km, 10-20%). It's breathtaking! In need for some speed? Take the decent to Kematen and reach 90 - 100 km/h in the tunnel. Be carefull!
