Story by Richard Marsh from Cernay, France, submitted on 18/04/2010
I moved to this area just after Christmas and have been waiting for this road to open for a few months (the Route des Cretes closes because of snow). Anyway, today I finally managed to ride the Grand Ballon from Cernay and wasnt disappointed. Its a beautiful road (although busy at times with fast cars and motorbikes). Its also a climb of 2 parts with the climb to Col de Siberloch effectively a (tough) warm up before the last 6 km up to the Grand Ballon being pretty unrelenting. Excellent as a descent!
