WONDERFUL CLIMB FROM DEMONTE. UNKNOWN BUT UNFORGETTABLE. ESPECIALLY THE LAST 2 KM BRING YOU TO THE SUMMIT; TO THE STATUE OF MARCO PANTANI

The Colle della Fauniera, starting from Ponte Marmora is not recommendable on a racing bike with 22 mm tires. The status of the asphalt is horrible. A only downhilled the climb with my racing bike. Dont try this!!! Gaps, pebbles and dangerous bents wont be appreciated by your tires, rims and brakes, not to mention yourself sitting on your vehicle. I seemed to be driving in a downhillcontest or cyclocrossrace. If you really want to be on the top of the Fauniera Pass with your racing bike, chose another option, Demonte p.e. With a MTB it will be possible. I hope roadbuilders will soon do something about this bad roadconditions. (In ancient cycling times this descent/climb would have been a wonderful road, whit patchworkasphalt.)

Wonderful. Cant understand why more people dont go there. Fine memorial to Pantani at the top.
