Colle della Fauniera from Demonte is a heavy climb. The first ten kilometres are a bit up and down, driving through several little Piemontese towns. Its a quiet narrow road, but with quiet traffic and new asphalt. Larger cars and busses will be in trouble while climbing the Colle della Fauniera. It is even not done. The pass is like a bike/motorbikeworld. The view and the nature in the next 14 kilometres to the top are overwhelming. Tremendous mountains cover the pain that you are feeling in your legs. The climb is exposed to the wind and the sun. The murmuring water and the hopping marmots make it even a bit romantic. The slope of the last 12 kms is though not that romantic. 8-10%, with very steep parts of 15%. At the top, a statue of Marco Pantani will greet you. Nice Kodakpoint.
