Col de la Chaude is a very steep and narrow road up a quiet forested valley to a distinctive col between the Rochers de Naye and the Pointe d'Aveneyre. The quiet forest road is rarely used and actually ends just the other side of the col at the Alpage de Chaude.

The Col de Chaude is situated in Vaud. This climb belongs to the Alpes Vaudoises. Starting from Villeneuve, the Col de Chaude ascent is 12.8 km long. Over this distance, you climb 1243 heightmeters. The average percentage thus is 9.7 %. The maximum slope is 15 %.

Stories, information and comments from Col de Chaude climbers
Story by Chris Patient from , Switzerland, submitted on 16/09/2016
I did the Col de Chaude in the "froide" on a cold and rainy day. Nevertheless the relentless gradient kept me hot.

It is really an out and back climb because the other side is only accessible by mountain bike but on the map it is marked as a Col. The climb by bike is mostly in the trees until the last picturesque few kilometres to a classic col finish . I climbed it by road bike and so had to take the descent a little easy as the road surface is not very good and there is even a danger of rockfall some places especially as in my case when it is raining!

A good recommendation would be to continue on to Sonchaux and around to Caux and beyond if you can face any more climbing after the gruelling ascent of the Col de Chaude.
