It''s a really beautiful climb on traffic free roads in the forests.
The final third is on a very remote road and although the surface is excellent there tends to be lots of small rocks which have fallen down from the hillside.
The section from Yoshino village to Kimpu Jinja is a constant gradient approx 5% and very pleasant. The road then steepens up after Kimpu Jinja for a short stretch.
I disagree with the 4.2% gradient, it is somewhat steeper than that, and i think the fact the 5k of this climb are flat reduces the gradient somewhat.
