Hello, same question as Pete: I want to climb Vesuvius but need to rent a bike. I have contacted rentalbikeitaly but they say climb is much too hard so you have to book a guide...I don''t need a guide because i''m a trained cyclist..So does anyone know if bike rental in torre del greco is possible? thanks

hello, i''ve been climbing this mountain hundreds of times in my life (i''m 39 now). pendences are a little overrated (average I think is above 7%) and last 2 km are the hardest and around (not far) 10%.
landscape is wonderfull.
be carefully during summer not to start climbing after 9 am or before 6 pm if weather is good, becouse of the heat.
not many places to find water along the way, just some restaurant...

I have a question. Do you know where I can hire a bike in Ercolano/Torre del Greco area? I hope to visit Pompeii, Herculaneum & Vesuvius. I cant find anywhere online, and wonder if there are any bicycle shops I could contact. Many thanks Pete
