Story by Steve Rowan from , United Kingdom, submitted on 29/07/2012
I''ve just returned from the Dolomites where I climbed Monte Zoncolan (Ovaro side)and Punta Veleno among others on my road bike and I have to say that the Edelweiss is by far the most fun to climb, the steepness of the ramps especially on the lower half are amazing! but you do have some rest time as there is a slight decent when you turn right to cross the new road and after the village it is not quite so hard. Unlike a lot of the climbs in the top 30 it is all surfaced and so O.K on a normal road bike, the climb continues past the Edelweiss restaurant for another kilometer or so before becoming a dirt track. It is the hardest climb Ive have ever done. If I stopped I don''t think I could have restarted.
