Stories, information and comments from Piccolo San Bernardo climbers
Story by Olivier from Leuven, Belgium, submitted on 14/11/2012
I did this pass in August 2010, starting from Pré St. Didier at 1.017 m altitude to the top of the pass at 2.188 m altitude, after 23,5 km. The first 10 km till La Thuile are very easy, and the road only gets a little steeper after km 17, but not more than 7,1%. The scenery is beautiful, especially after the village of La Thuile. Near the top is a nice little lake where you can refresh yourself a little bit, but take care, the water is very cold!
