Story by neil millen from Cullompton, United Kingdom, submitted on 28/09/2015
Rode this again Sept 2015 and certainly seemed easier than when I did it in 2010! This is a Short steep climb with Gradients of Max 25%. The climb starts on the sea front in Sidmouth and within a few hundred yrds you are in double digits for gradient! The climb averages around 10% for the total and has two very steep sections of over 20%, first after abot 1km and then after you turn for the shelter of the woods. You''ll be on your lowest gear and out of the saddle at this stage but you don''t have far left to climb so stick with it. Lovely views and descent to Otterton on the other side make the 10 mins of effort worthwhile. Coming back up the other side is just 5%!
