Long climb ; it take some time anyway. Certainly the second part starting from Isola is hard without any time to rest - you can also take the old way : very spectaculary but was closed due of work. I didnt use a triple ; I think its better to use it. Anyway you need some backlight and the roads are not always in good condition - be carefull when youre going down. Stop for a coffee or some food -even rooms- in the Ostello Casa delle nevi. Very friendly and a marvelous view not only out- also insite (im not talking about the chef). Great experience. Good hotel in Chiavenna : Aurora - 60€ HP in single ; great food.
