Did this as the first part of the Medio Fondo. The grade is pretty steady and there are no suprises and the road surface was excellent. The 30-something switchbacks make it interesting, but the climb seems to go on forever. You feel it towards the last several KM. Very do-able with 36X25 gears.

This was my third climb (after the passo Gardena and the passo campolongo). After having stomache problems on the first climb (from drinking a local sports drink), I was unable to eat or drink the first 2 hours of my ride. By the time I started climbing the Pordoi, I could feel the muscle crambs from my toes to my ears. The Pordoi is never really steap, but it never flattens either. The 33 bends (I started from bend 7-8 in Arabba) offer no real resting pause on the outsides. Still, I made it to the top. And after a short stop, I started feeling better, finally. Because the Sella was still to come...
