Ive climbed Puerto Navafria on two occasions. Once when not in good shape and another time in much better shape. If you keep at your own pace, its quite manageable. Its greatest attribute is that the road is shaded almost completely by trees. This makes it a very comfortable and scenic ride. If youre really fit a 39-tooth chain ring will work. However, I would recommend for most a 34-tooth. I have used a 30-tooth ring with 25-tooth cassette on the back.
