I lived in Geneva for a short time so this was a very convenient climb from there. As David said it starts early but you are usually riding in the shade so it''s still nice to do on warm days. There are 2 options to ride over the hill and turning off just before the summit (or doubling back) is a nice decent which is a lot less technical if you fancy an easier way down. Pass the cafe and head towards Cesarge then head left back round the Saleve towards (but outside of) Annemassee.

Don''t uderestimate this climb - it kicks up steep early on and it stays kicked-up! It may not have the cache of other, more famous climbs but once you get to the top of this one you will have earned your sense of achievement nonetheless. I rode this with some riders who have lived and ridden in the Alps for 5 or 6 years; none of them knew of a single other climb in the range that was this steep for this long. You may be thinking ''But I ride up 20%+ in the UK all the time'', but this is long and relentless. A must if you like getting out of the saddle!
