Weekend in Shropshire. Gutted three of us couldn''t complete the Long Mynd! 25 percent! Hardest climb since I did Wrynose, Honister & Kirkstone 20 years ago! Only managed a third of it from the Asterton side, had to walk most of it, & a knee injury didn''t help, though got back on & cycled the last section. Just too steep & narrow! It must be difficult to climb anyway if there''s lots of traffic. Three minibuses came down the climb and we had to move on to grass verge to let them pass so you''ve got to be lucky to ride it on a clear road.

The Daddy! The views are tremendous, Im sure that its more than 0.85kms. Unrelenting gradient. Dont stop youll never get started again.

Im lucky to live in this beautiful part of the world & the climb up the Long Mynd from Asterton is one of the toughest locally. Although for me, a greater challenge is from Newcastle (251820) to Spoad (254808). The corners seem to increase the gradient.
