Stories, information and comments from Leith Hill climbers

Leith isn’t massively hard but its awkward, I’ve done it a few times, and there are people that fly up it (the skinny folk) or people like me that go up it at tempo… the road surface on the left 3rd of the hill is patchy, and can upset your rhythm, if you don’t judge it right. I do it in 36x 21 and it feels ok, as ¾ of the way up there is a natural lull where you can catch your breath before attacking the last part. It’s a good one for hill repeats as the gradient changes slightly a few times so you can either dig in or gear down or up where needed.
My personal climb rating:

Climb was ok, gradient changes so you get a chance to catch your breath before it steepens again, and I have a triple chainset. Coming down was tricky, water and potholes makes the corners hard to judge
