Kirkstone is a three sided pass and a good couple of hours hill climbing training can be had on its slopes of varying severity. This is the hardest way up Kirkstone. Very steep right from the start, it eases a little in the middle section. But keep something in reserve for the last half mile. ""The Struggle"" it calls it on the road sign, and struggle it is - full on 20%.
