I climbed this as part of the 2013 Tour of Nilgiris. The climb arrived after 100km of the stage across fairly flat terrain, but in blistering Indian heat. The climb starts after you cross a small bridge over a creek and your garmin goes straight to 10% on the gradient and never drops below it the whole way. There are 36 hair pins from memory and each one sign posted with a bleak reminder of how many more there are to come. there is a small tea shop about half way up if you want to stop to refuel - but I wouldn''t, you''ll never start again! I rode up on a steel Condor road bike, with a 34/29 gearing. it just about was enough. I am a skinny grimpeur and even I was weaving about to ease the pain. There were people with us who had smashed up Alp D''Huez who said this was way harder. There isn''t much to look at along the way, its quite foresty, Indian traffic is what it is, cars will blare past you and when you want to take the path of least resistance you won''t be able to as a truck will come hurtling towards you and you will have to go up the steepest way! Its scarier coming down. A few riders binned it in the corners and most of us stopped half way to cool brakes off and entertain the monkeys!
