A nice warm up climb, as everywhere out of Liberec is something of a climb; it sits in a bowl surrounded by mountains. The last one and a half kilometres are the most challenging and the views from the top can be the best in the Czech Republic, but you have to turn off the main road and once at the summit, return the same way. At weekends it gets extremely busy with walkers, so best to do it during the week. Most cyclists don''t actually go to the summit, but just carry on over the mountain and on into some of the best road cycling you''ll find anywhere - reasonable surfaces, plenty of challenges, beautiful scenery and little traffic. just make sure you retain enough energy for the return climb to Liberec.
