This climb was humbling. I did this on April 13 close to sunset thinking that the cooler temperatures would make it slightly easier. How I was wrong. The 90 deg F heat with 50% humidity was the real contention, not the grade or length of the climb. Had it been a tad bit cooler, I would have been comfortable. I would recommend doing this climb in the cooler part of the calender. With compact gearing, anyone with a decent level of fitness can do this climb.
