I''m not a frequent cyclist, but ones in a while I test myself. For me this was a really difficult climb. I started at the bottom of the valley which is at about 650 meters hight. There are some unexpected steep parts until you reach grindelwald-grund. Also the roads trough Grindelwald were unexpected steep. The Grosse Scheides itself is really steep all the way up. So if you are a bit heavy it will put you to your limits. Compared to the Grimselpass (from Oberwald) this climb is much more difficult (in my opinion). The glacierviews are spectacular and there is very low traffic.
My personal climb rating:

It is a pretty smooth ride up till Grindelwald. From here the road just pops up to 10-11% and pretty much stays that way untill the top. There are no cars appart from a scheduled postbus. The only thing that stopped me was a cow blocking the road. The views are absolutety amazing and the road is oke. The descent on the other side is a bit bumpy. All in all a very nice climb, though next time I would take a 34 instead of a 39 front.
