Story by Julien from Zurich, Suisse, submitted on 16/08/2013
I have just climbed this pass. I started in Luzern and followed a nice bike road featuring great views. I reached Sarnen and climbed this challenging pass (featuring outstanding views on lake and glacier) in 70 minutes (12.4 average speed). I mention the time as I really suffered and thought I had been much slower. The first 3 kilometers as suggested by the profile are tough. Once you have reached a school (u cannot miss the sign on the road) you can start breathing again as the slope gets gentle. This short respite will be needed to climb the "hairpin section" that features steep (read brutal) ramps. The last 3 kilometers are fairly easy but you feel drained because of the effforts made in the steep sections. I climbed many passes in Switzerland and this one is among the toughest I have climbed (harder than Sustenpass from Wassen and Furka / comparable to Ibergeregg). The challenge lies in the steepness of some long ramps and irregular gradients. Alpine grids on the road in the last 7km. great climbing experience overall! Little self-service restaurant at the top. Owner is friendly and prices are reasonable. Food was good. Owner made the effort to speak high German. No panoramic view.

Story by Andre from , Switzerland, submitted on 05/11/2008
After nearly 100km of riding i hit the Glaubenberg today (11.05.2008). Right after you enter Sarnen (from Stans) you take the first exit in the roundabout and the Glaubenberg Pass begins. The climb kicks of right away with a gradient above 10% and doesnt flatten until you reach Stalden which is after about 3.5km. The first part is very steep and really goes into your legs. In Stalden the road flattens for about 1K which gives you time to recover. After the short flat section the climb gets really tough for about 7K. In these 7K you climb about 650 heightmeters and the serpentines begin. You also need to ride over a few pasture ducts which is kinda annoying. You can ride around some but not all. After 12.5K you reach a Restaurant and you kinda get the impression that youre at the top but youre not. From the Restaurant to the top its about 1.5K. Its a nice hard climb. The most of the climb is in the sun so climbing it throughout the summer can become a torture.
