I climbed this in pouring rain in Sept 2013. This would be a beast of a climb in hot weather, but in the rain it was steep but doable. The signage is very good so that you can pace your effort. I was 71 yrs old when I did this climb. We did the Pico St. Bernard after this one.

I really enjoyed this climb, it starts at 16%, just to get your head in the right place. I loved the Italian precision of the kilometre markers with the degrees to 2 decimal places! It is so pretty, wooded almost all the way, and a completely different aspect and feel to the French side of the Col du Petit St Bernard which I climbed to get here, and again on the Italian side to get home). I reckon I prefer these shorter, sharper climbs to those which just shamble along aimlessly only just rising.
