Col du Télégraphe - Saint Michel de Maurienne

The 1570 meters high Col du Telegraphe is the only connection between the resorts of Valloire and the valley of the Arc and the Maurienne. The road is therefore, normally, open the whole year around. It has a maximum gradient of 10% and 14 hairpin bends.

The Col du Télégraphe is situated in Rhone-Alpes and belongs to the Alps . Starting from Saint Michel de Maurienne, the Col du Télégraphe ascent is 11.8 km long. Over this distance, you climb 856 heightmeters. The average percentage thus is 7.3 %.

Nice climb to start with and to find your rithme. From that point a went also to Valmeinier & Galibier.

We climbed this during the Marmotte 2009, in a blazing heat, just after the Glandon. In this setting, it isnt an easy climb. When you drink ad drink at 35 degrees celcius, and you get stomach ache because of it, there are easier climbs I can think of...

A nice ride, but really only a preliminary to the main event along the road. Valloise is a nice spot to stop for a cafe au lait and some lunch to prepare for the galibier.
