Story by Carl from St Peter Port, United Kingdom, submitted on 28/06/2015
This side of the climb is much better than the French side. The road is wide and a good surface, and the gradient is fairly steady. The descent on the Spanish side is quick. For some reason, there seems to be more flies on the Spanish side!

Story by Lloyd Evans from Brighton, UK, submitted on 07/07/2006
This is a lovely climb. Challenging enough because of the 7-10% gradient, but steady enough for you to get in a good rhythm to tap it out all the way to the top. Nice and shady as well for most of the way. Did this one in 2005 as the first of four in a day of 3000m climbing; a nice way to get the first 500m out of the way. Good descent down into Luchon, as well.
