Story by Dave from Fribourg, Switzerland, submitted on 12/10/2015
I started the climb from Bex, cycling up past the Salt Mine (museum) and through Gryon, to join the climb to the col at Villars. Nice quiet road up, few cars, but watch out for the train, which runs like a tram on the road for a short section!

From Villars the scenery changes dramatically, with sparse habitation and a much more remote feel.

Superb views over the Diablerets and surrounding mountain.

After descending to Les Diablerets (plenty of Cafes) you can continue back down the Col des Mosses to Aigle to make a nice loop, or for a longer ride, bag a couple more cols by turning right in Les Diablerets up to the col du Pillon, and down to Gstaad. Back along the stunning valley pas Chateau d''Oex and back over the Col des Mosses to Aigle.

Started in Bex. Drizzle started in Villars and full rain by the summit; covered in fog. Descended on wet roads to Les Diablerets shaking so badly it was hard to control the bike. Two cups of coffee and dry out time was required prior to the trip back to Montreux via the Col de Mosses descent.
