Story by Alan Wilson from Perth, United Kingdom, submitted on 13/06/2014
After a ride from Le Bourg d''Oisans up to Mont de Lans as a warm up (!) we descended from Les Deux Alpes road to Lac Chambon dam and headed up the Sarenne, stunning scenery and decent road surfaces, a fairly constant 7% or so with some steeper ramps higher up. The road deteriorates near the top, but ascending it is not an issue. A long climb, with little respite, very quiet, the juice is worth the squeeze. There is a small cafe at the col, may not be open though, but a fun descent and climb back to Alpe d''Huez and all its fleshpots beckons.
