It was my first Col... You start the climb from the old center of the city of Grenoble. The first part of the col (the hardest part)consist in climbing a cliff with nice panoramas on Grenoble. A few Kms later passing between twoo mountains you sudently enter the massif of the chartreuse. Thats realy impressive... You eventually cross a little village before the last (woody)rise to the top.
