Agree with previous poster. I climbed this in 1997. Although it''s difficulty level is slightly lower than the Tourmalet this is harder due to poor road surface and exposure to winds. A brutal climb and not that scenic as you go up the face.

A real nasty climb.Some pretty steep pitches but the road surface is really poor and when we did it (couple of years back now)it there was a strong headwind which made for a pretty cold experience. I havent packed on many climbs but came close on this one. Its pretty much an out and back. Great views across the valley but the top is pretty dull unless youre a fan of French radar installations. Watch out for broken tarmac on the descent...
