Did this in July 2013 as part of a ride doing the route of stage 18 of the 2013 tdf. Nice little climb coming up out of the valley and with a good cafe at the top. Can get hot in the middle of the day but the gradient means it''s never too taxing. The descent down to the road that heads to Alpe d''Huez is great, not too technical and with great views once you get a bit of the way down.

I climbed the Ornon as the first climb on a weeks cycling trip to the Alps, and loved it. It''s never too steep, a great introduction to riding in the Alps, and good practice for gauging your pace and effort. The descent is great fun as well. Really liked this climb.

A group of us for charity did the Col d''Ornon a day before we tackled l''Alpe this September and to that point the Ornon was the most pleasure I had ever experienced on a bike.

Very gentle gradient and like everywhere in the alps the scenery is sublime.

And the descent is simple fantastic!
