Stories, information and comments from Col d'Arboras climbers
Story by Stefaan Priem from Brugge, Belgium, submitted on 04/10/2011
Known locally by the name of ''col du Vent'' this climb offers an enjoyable challenge in a fantastic scenery. The col is not very steep (8% max) nor long, yet in high summer heat rather than gravity might be your fiercest opponent. Make sure to take plenty of water with you. The climb kicks of in the town of Arboras, beautifully located with vineyards surrounding you. The state of the road is ok, but again, there''s little shadow to escape from the sun. About 3 kms from the summit there''s a few bends and some wind may play a role here, but don''t let that spoil the majectic views over the Hérault-department and (if you''re lucky) the Mediterranean.

If you''re still hungry you could turn right about one kilometre after the summit and head for the Mont Saint-Baudille. Another 3 kms with passages around 10 to 13% await you.

After you ride you may want to enjoy a nice glass of wine in the valley at Montpeyroux or Saint-Saturnin.
